Dragon Wings
Today, after dawn
A fresh splash of colour
And dragon wings, dragon wings
In my mother’s keeping
A string of glistening tears
Once were hers, now they’re mine
On the scarred kitchen table
A twice-washed pearl goblet
To drink memories and wine
But the dragon wings remain
Magic is still a loving friend
To ride on clouds and look at stars
To hold my song inside my heart
Then to find the words to sing
All I need is dragon wings
There are two sides to three stories
And a stone on every hill
And dragon wings, dragon wings
Perhaps tomorrow we’ll hear about it
Because the newborn voice
Is a voice like no other
To cherish a thought
To see the sand
And to fly like we only could in summer
The evening sky is alight
As I glide between stars
With my dragon wings, dragon wings
